MAT DALING - JERANTUT PAHANG – MALAYSIA

Do not be fooled by the name “rimba”, in Malay it means forest or jungle so we are talking about a tough raid… but at the same time extremely fascinating and for this reason is chosen by many off-road enthusiasts, not just Malaysians. GIVI, who embraced “the cause” becoming the main sponsor of the fifth edition 2018, is in good company due to the interest shown by BMW, KTM, TRIUMPH, KAWASAKI, DUCATI, PIRELLI, RED BULL on the field with demo-ride and technical support. What is the target? The high-calibre twin-cylinder “adventure” bikes!
Despite its young age (the first edition dates back to 2015), the RIMBA RAID is already considered as one of the most followed off-road events in Southeast Asia and as such has garnered support beyond the Malay borders. This competition boasts more than 120 participants from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, China, UK and Italy (including Matteo Graziani, one of our best motorbike rally bikers)
Off-road events in this country are on the increase but apart from the famous BMW GS Trophy and the KTM Malaysia Weekend Adventure only the amateur RIMBA RAID is dedicated to maxienduro, starting from the 650cc’s. A winning formula that attracts motorcyclists who own bikes such as the BMW R 1200 GS and GS Adventure, F 800 GS, F 700 GS, F 650 GS and still KTM 690 Enduro, 990 Adventure, 1190R Adventure, 1290 Super Adventure R; the Triumph Tiger 800, the Yamaha XT1200Z Super Hold; the Honda Africa Twin, NX6750, NC750X; Husqvarna 701 Enduro; Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled … a well-known and carefully monitored target by GIVI.
The last edition of the RIMBA RAID took place last February around Janda Baik, a village which is about thirty kilometres from Kuala Lumpur and surrounded by the rainforest at an altitude of 400-600 meters above sea level. It is a fantastic scenario to discover on a motorcycle.
Crossing a ford or muddy trails in a context like the Malaysian rainforest is not for beginners (take a look at the video of the past editions). However, it’s ultimate fun if you are not a newbie!
A jury then rewards the participants who have best demonstrated their ability to overcome obstacles and control the bike in different riding situations.
The GIVI RIMBA RAID scheduled for MAT DALING from 6th to 8th July,
promises to be a really “wild” weekend for participants and the public
GIVI has invested heavily in the “adventure” segment. There is no motorcycle model in this range that has not been researched and ad hoc accessories have been developed for each one. In this case the commercial aspect is superseded by the emotional one, the same that has encouraged the brand to become the sponsor of many motorcycle events ranging from Dakar to minor rallies, from enduro to motocross up to organizing events like GIVI EXPLORER.
In order to reach the race track in Mat Daling it is necessary to travel off-road for about 40km. The area lacks electricity and running water but will be transformed into a well-equipped paddock just for the occasion.
Obviously some attention will also be placed on the local market and the local world with the inevitable gathering on Sunday morning on the dune beach at the banks of the river for a crazy ride on the sand with the local Kapcai motorcycles (150cc).
The Rimba Raid steadily improves organization and route with each new. At this rate the possibility of becoming a premium off-road event is just around the corner. Being the main sponsor represents, not just for GIVI Malaysia, a great opportunity.
